COPPA, GDPR‑K & PDPA Compliance Notice
Last updated: August 17, 2025
FunAI Quest is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families. This notice explains how we comply with:
- Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States;
- Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) guidelines for children’s data; and
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provisions relating to children in the EU/UK (often referred to as GDPR‑K).
Important: This notice is for informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice. Please consult with a qualified attorney familiar with your jurisdiction if you require legal guidance.
Who we are
FunAI Quest is a gamified platform designed to teach children aged 7–17 how to use artificial intelligence responsibly and creatively. Our services are accessed via our website and mobile apps, and we adhere to strict data‑privacy laws to protect our young users.
Information we collect
We collect minimal personal data necessary to operate and improve our service. All children’s personal data is treated as sensitive, and we apply a privacy‑by‑design approach to protect it. For example, we encourage the use of nicknames instead of real names, we avoid collecting precise location data, and none of your child’s personal information is made public or searchable by others.
Data type | Description | Purpose |
---|---|---|
Parent email | Collected during sign‑up and in the waitlist form | Used to create your account, send confirmations, newsletters and weekly progress reports. |
Child username / nickname | Optional pseudonym chosen by the parent or child | Used to personalise the learning experience. We discourage using real names. |
Progress data | Lesson completions, XP, badges, quiz scores | Used to customise content and generate progress reports. |
Device & usage logs | Browser type, IP address, app interaction events | Used for security, analytics and service improvement. |
We do not collect any sensitive personal data from children (e.g. precise location, financial information). If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment information is handled securely by our payment provider and is not stored by FunAI Quest.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: personalise lessons, track progress and award badges appropriate to your child’s learning level.
- To communicate with parents: send onboarding emails, weekly progress reports and important updates.
- To improve FunAI Quest: analyse aggregated, anonymised usage data to understand which lessons work best and to develop new features.
- To ensure safety: monitor for misuse, detect inappropriate content and troubleshoot technical issues to keep the platform safe for kids.
We do not sell or rent your or your child’s personal information to third parties. We also do not use your child’s personal data to serve targeted advertisements or for any marketing purposes beyond the service itself.
Parental consent & rights
Under COPPA (US), Singapore’s PDPA guidelines and GDPR‑K, we must obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting, using or disclosing personal information from children under the applicable age (13 in the US and Singapore, and up to 16 in parts of the EU). By signing up and creating a child’s account, you:
- Confirm that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian.
- Authorise FunAI Quest to collect and process the data described above for your child’s use of the service.
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
- Review the personal information we have collected about your child.
- Correct any inaccurate data about your child.
- Request deletion of your child’s account and associated data.
- Withdraw consent at any time (withdrawing consent may limit or disable your child’s ability to use the service).
To exercise these rights, please email us at privacy@funaiquest.com and include your account email address. We will verify your identity before processing your request and respond within 30 days.
Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service or as required by law. If your account is inactive for more than 12 months, we will reach out to confirm whether you wish to keep it. After 24 months of continuous inactivity (or sooner, at your request), we will anonymise or delete your personal data and your child’s data. Aggregate data that cannot identify an individual may be retained for analytical purposes.
Security measures
We use industry‑standard security practices to protect your information. These measures include:
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS) and at rest on our servers.
- Secure storage: Passwords are stored using secure hashing, and sensitive data is stored with additional encryption.
- Access controls: We restrict internal access to personal data to authorised staff with a valid need to know.
- Vulnerability management: We conduct regular security audits and vulnerability scans to identify and fix potential issues.
Despite our efforts, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to choose a strong, unique password and keep your login credentials confidential. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your or your child’s personal information, we will notify you and take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable laws.
Service providers & international transfers
We may use trusted third‑party service providers to operate FunAI Quest (for example, cloud hosting platforms, email delivery services or analytics tools). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and to comply with relevant privacy laws. Your data may be transferred and processed outside of your country of residence (for instance, on servers located in the United States or EU). In such cases, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place—such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent agreements—to protect your data and ensure that any overseas recipient provides a comparable level of data protection in line with GDPR and PDPA requirements.
Updates to this notice
We may update this privacy notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or to stay compliant with new legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify parents via the email on file and/or by displaying a prominent message on our website. The “Last updated” date at the top will always indicate when the notice was most recently revised. We encourage you to review this notice periodically for any updates. Continued use of FunAI Quest after an update signifies your acceptance of the revised terms.
